Investigator Beeharry From ICAC : All Exhibits Have Been Well Preserved

Must Read

The case against Raj Dayal for alleged corruption continued on Tuesday 16 November 2021 before the Financial Crimes Division, a unit of the Intermediate Court. Investigator Beeharry, assigned to the Independent Commission against Corruption (ICAC), produced CDs and DVDs collected from various media outlets as part of the investigation. These audio and video materials, containing statements by Raj Dayal, would have allowed police to verify that the voice on the recording made by Patrick Soobhany was indeed that of the former Minister of Environment.

Officer Beeharry explained that he was mandated to collect these materials from Radio Plus, Top FM, ION News and MBC, among others, and that he was not aware of their content because he was not part of the team investigating the case. He added that he also did not know whether these CDs and DVDs had been shown to Raj Dayal.

The witness was cross-examined by Me. Jacques Panglose, representing the defendant, about the presence of a brown envelope with Patrick Soobhany’s phone in a “bubble bag. He replied that the envelope had always been there but that he did not know what it contained. Me Panglose also questioned him on the conditions in which the exhibits had been kept. Officer Beeharry assured that all exhibits have been kept in good conditions.
