Julien Edward Laval Dick, a 27 year old mechanic, mowed down the company of two police officers who were escorting him to the Bail and Remand Court (BRC) in Port-Louis on Saturday, March 26. The latter was caught this Tuesday morning, April 5, in Karo Kaliptis, Roche-Bois. This inhabitant of cité Malherbes, Curepipe had been arrested on Friday, March 25, concerning a case of theft of avocado by police officers from the Eau-Coulée police station.
It was in a courtyard in Curepipe that Julien Dick broke in on Friday, March 25, around 11:55 a.m. to steal avocado from a 33-year-old Operation Officer. With the help of his neighbors, the latter was able to restrain Julien Dick before he was arrested by police officers from the Eau-Coulée police station, who were called to this address. Avocado worth Rs 6200 were seized in his possession.
It was 11:15 a.m. on Saturday, March 26, when Julien Dick, who was arrested the day before, was taken before the BRC to face a provisional charge of theft. Handcuffed, he took his legs as soon as he got out of the vehicle that was transporting him. A young policewoman, who was escorting him, tried in vain to pursue him, as did the driver of the vehicle, another police officer, who also tried to find the fugitive, but in vain.
Immediately, the Information Room of the police was informed and a radio message was broadcast to all units on patrol. At the level of the police station of Eau-Coulée, an operation had been set up for the capture of this fugitive as soon as possible.
It was in the late afternoon of Tuesday, April 5, on the basis of certain information that Edward Dick was apprehended, following an operation mounted by elements of the Metropolitan Police of the North Division. The suspect was handed over to the police officers of the Eau-Coulée police station. This morning, Wednesday April 6, he will be brought before the court of Curepipe.
