Horse Racing Organiser Licence : New Deadline Of April 7 For The MTCSL

Must Read

The MTC Sports and Leisure (MTCSL) was not able to meet the March 25 deadline to submit the missing documents for obtaining a Horse Racing Organiser licence. The Horse Racing Board (HRD)has given until April 7 for the MTCSL to fulfil all the required conditions.

As part of its application to the Horse Racing Division (HRD) for a licence as a horse racing organiser, the Board of Directors of MTCSL requested a stay of submission of certain missing documents from the authorities on Thursday March 24, 2022. The HRD replied and set a new deadline of April 7.

The documents required by the HRD to process the license application are, among others, the statements of audited accounts, the solvency certificate, the sources of income of the MTCSL, the “lease agreement” between the Mauritius Turf Club (MTC) and the MTCSL and the list of independent directors. Officials of the MTC said that it was necessary to obtain a stay to finalise the transfer of pension funds between the MTC and the MTCSL.

The MTCSL applied for a horse racing operator license with the HRD on February 7th. The next day, he sent a letter, pledging that his accounts would be audited by February 28. Having received nothing, the HRD wrote to the MTCSL on March 8 asking them, once again, to submit the missing documents by March 11. On the eve of this deadline, on March 10, the MTCSL had requested a stay. It was then that the deadline of March 25 was set for him to submit all the necessary papers. The HRD has given the MTCSL a third deadline of April 7 which is very close to the start of the 2022 season scheduled to start on April 23.
