The Shivaji Raje Bhosle Mahasangh (SRBM) launched the Majha Ganraj video on Wednesday, September 8. This devotional song in honour of the god Ganesh follows a series of activities on the sidelines of Ganesh Chaturthi which will be celebrated tomorrow. A live jam session is also planned for tonight from 8 to 9 pm on the association’s Facebook page.
Since its inception in 2008, the SRBM has set itself the objective of promoting Marathi culture especially among the youth. The Majha Ganraj video, is a continuity as Shivraj Narroo – the president explains: “Usually we organise every year jhakri which are dances and songs dedicated to god Ganesh. This year with the health crisis, we preferred to shoot a video with the collaboration of the Mauritius Film Development Corporation. The devotees will be able to pay a fervent tribute to Ganesh through our song.
The association also organised other activities during the week: “We asked Mauritians to use art to express their devotion to Ganesh. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality and number of submissions. All the creations can be seen on our Facebook page,” adds Shivraj.
In addition, the association is inviting devotees to join them in a live jam session on their Facebook page. “The event will take place from 8 to 9 pm. It will be an opportunity for us to sing the praises of god Ganesh. The public can participate by following us on our page.”
