French Ambassador Florence Caussé-Tissier Expressed Her Joy Of Celebrating National Day In Mauritius

Must Read

The Prime Minister, Mr Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, attended, on Thursday afternoon, an official reception hosted by the Ambassador of France to Mauritius, Mrs Florence Caussé-Tissier, at her residence in Floréal, to mark the French National Day.

The President of the Republic of Mauritius, Mr Prithvirajsing Roopun, the Vice-President of the Republic of Mauritius, Mr Marie Cyril Eddy Boissezon, and other eminent personalities were also present on this occasion.

In her address, Ambassador Caussé-Tissier highlighted that, every 14th of July, French citizens come together around the timeless and universal values that unite them – freedom, equality and fraternity. She expressed her joy of celebrating this year’s National Day in Mauritius which, according to her, occupies a unique place in the hearts of the French people. Mauritius has an infinite variety of landscapes that invite contemplation, and is also a land of francophone vitality and economic dynamism, she observed.

This day, she underscored, is also an opportunity to recall that the Mauritius-France relationship is based on friendship and trust. The two countries, she reminded, share peace and openness while being united by a common vision in view of today’s challenges.

Furthermore, Ambassador Caussé-Tissier emphasised that France intends to play an active role in a world which confronts us collectively with contemporary challenges, whereby the Russia-Ukraine conflict has serious consequences on the five continents. This, she added, is evidenced by: France’s constant mobilisation, especially in recent months; ACT-A and COVAX initiatives following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic; and the unshakable desire for dialogue and consultation through, for instance, the One Ocean Summit in Brest, the Indo-Pacific Conference in Paris, and the new Africa-France Summit in Montpellier.

France, she underlined will continue to work tirelessly for a safer, fairer and more united world. It is on this solidarity that our bilateral cooperation actions are based, and are focused on innovation and sustainability, and this is concretely illustrated in several areas such as security, health, education, training, diplomacy, as well as cultural and sports matters, she added.

It is recalled that the French National Day, commemorated every 14th of July since 1790 and also known as Bastille Day, is one of the most important days in the history of the French Nation, as it marks the fall of the Bastille, a military fortress and political prison, then considered a symbol of the monarchy.
