The resident of Black River appeared once again before the Bambous court this Tuesday. His detention was extended until 14 March. He is facing a provisional charge of money laundering. However, it should be noted that he is due back in court on Thursday 9 March where his motion for release will be debated. As a reminder, there have been many arrests since Jean Hubert Celerine, alias Franklin, was placed under arrest by the Anti-Corruption Commission. This morning, Shan Choolun, the owner of a ranch located 700 metres from Grand-Bassin, was questioned by the Icac investigators this morning. The BMW of Shan Choolun, who is suspected of being one of Franklin’s nominees, was seized. He is also facing a provisional charge of money laundering.
Mike Gregory arrested
Mike Gregory Pattee was placed under arrest on Tuesday following his questioning by Icac. He will spend the night in detention before being presented to the court on Wednesday for his provisional indictment. He was questioned on proprieties he possessed in the North.
Franklin case: no freedom for Sumbhoo
In the Bamboo court, magistrate Vidya Mungree-Jugurnath gave her ruling on Rikesh Sumboo’s bail motion. She said Sumboo could not be granted bail. She asked the police to complete its enquiry as soon as possible so that a formal charge could be lodged against Rikesh Sumboo.
