Naushadally Korimdun, a 54-year-old teacher, was held in a cell at the Piton detention center on Monday, March 6, after his appearance before the Pamplemousses court. This resident of the village of Le Hochet, Terre-Rouge was arrested on Saturday, March 4 on a charge of sexual abuse of a 13-year-old girl. The girl denounced the 50-year-old man with whom she was taking private lessons.
This sexual abuse report was made at the Terre-Rouge police station on Thursday evening, March 2. In this complaint recorded by a policewoman assigned to the family protection squad, the teenager who lives in Baie du Tombeau explained that since January of this year she began taking private lessons in English, French and math with this teacher who lives in Le Hochet, Terre-Rouge.
This student of grade 8 and attending a private college in the northern region of the country reported that since she began private lessons her teacher began sending her messages on WhatsApp. In the presence of her father, the teenager said that on February 27 at around 3:20 p.m. while she was at the home of this man in Le Hochet for lessons she was asked to go rinse her face in a sink installed in the corridor of this house. Shortly after her teacher arrived, he approached her, hugged her and kissed her on her neck.
The next day, February 28, she was again at her teacher’s home for lessons when he used the same method as the day before. This teacher kissed her on her neck, lips and forehead. He then reached under her shirt with his right hand to fondle her left breast. After her statement, the middle school girl was taken to North Hospital where she was admitted to follow protocol for victims of sexual abuse. She produced her cell phone to investigators for the purpose of the investigation.
The victim has already been examined by a medical examiner and a psychologist. Because the police objected to the release of teacher Naushadally Korimdun on parole, he was taken back into custody after his appearance at the Pamplemousses court.
