Must Read

A 39-year-old Mare-Tabac resident was seriously injured in an accident on the La Vigie motorway late on Thursday afternoon, March 10. She lost control of her 4WD before it hit the jersey blocks (the concrete parapets separating the two lanes) head-on.

She was taken to Jawaharlall Nehru Hospital in Rose Hill with serious injuries and admitted to the intensive care unit. Her husband, who was with her, was discharged after receiving treatment.

It was around 4pm on Thursday afternoon, March 10, that a team of police officers from the Curepipe police station were called to the La Vigie highway, Curepipe, about 100 metres past the roundabout for an accident. A blue 4WD, travelling towards Nouvelle-France, crashed into the concrete parapets.

When police officers from Curepipe Police Station arrived, the driver and her husband were already evacuated to hospital by their colleagues from Midlands Police Station with serious injuries. The impact of the collision was so severe that the front of the 4WD was crushed. Due to the driver’s condition, she was unable to give a statement to explain the circumstances of the accident or take a breath test.

An investigation has been initiated to determine the exact circumstances of this accident.
