Cycling : National Championships, Alexandre Mayer Wins Three Times

Alexandre Mayer is the one who has shown the most consistency in mountain bike and road races over the past two seasons. He proved it last Sunday on the Soreze circuit by taking the national championship jersey in the elite category for the third time in a row.

The member of Black River SC completed the 140 km in 3:48:13, ahead of Thibault Marrier D’Unienville of Faucon Flacq SC, 3:48:22 and Dylan Redy of Faucon Flacq SC, 3:48:45.

In the girls (18+) category, Aurélie Halbwachs-Lincoln was crowned by crossing the finish line hand in hand with Raphaëlle Lamusse in 1:50:42 for the 63 km. The -17 girls category saw Adriana Charlot of Constance Academy win in 1:19:10 while Kasandra Monrose of Mahebourg Academy took second place in 1:31:25.

In the cadet boys category, Gael André from Académie Nord was the strongest, completing the 72 km in 2:07:50.  Dylan Alexandre of Faucon Flacq SC (2:10:58) and Samuel Dupuy of Académie Nord (2:10:58) completed the podium.

In the pass-cyclist category Laurent L’Entêté brilliantly retained his crown with a time of 2:03:39 for the 72 kms. In the sprint, he beat Jean Hughes Begue from Rodrigues and Lucas Thonney, 2:03:57.

Samuel Quevauvillers from Faucon Flacq was also exact in the cadet category. With a time of 3:12:54 for the 100 km. Keylan Ciprisse (FFSC-3:16:36) and Noah Ong Tone of Rodrigues (3:16:36) completed the podium.
