Covid-19: “Our Leaders Systematically Lied To Mauritians And To The World” Says Duval

Must Read

In a press conference of Plateforme de l’Espoir on Saturday morning, Xavier Duval, the leader of the opposition accused the country’s leaders of having “systematically lied to Mauritians and the international community”. He said that today, the lie has been discovered. This is the reason why foreign countries are closing their borders with Mauritius and placing our country on a red list.

For him, it is clear that the situation has been trivialized. “The government has tried to hide the extent of the situation. It has trivialized the death and Covid-19,” said Xavier-Luc Duval, who insisted that we should not compare the situation of Mauritius with other countries. He concedes that the number of cases is increasing worldwide, but he said that elsewhere the number of deaths is low compared to Mauritius.

Moreover, he insisted that Germany has not put Mauritius on the red list because of the Omicron variant. “Officially, there is none in the country. Their decision stems from the lies of the government. Because for France and Germany, if you can’t treat your own population, how are you going to treat their nationals? This is why so many countries are closing their borders with Mauritius,” he added.

Berenger finds “indecent” President Roopun’s speed to give his assent

In a press conference this morning, the leader of the MMM denounced the speed with which the IBA (Amendment) Bill was passed in Parliament. But he described as “indecent” the speed with which the President gave his assent to this law.

For Paul Berenger, Pradeep Roopun is not aware of his dignity and powers. He asks him to go and read the speeches of Sir Anerood Jugnauth at the time (in 2003) when the MSM-MMM government granted additional powers to the President of the Republic. For Paul Bérenger, the President of the Republic deserves to be condemned for his actions, as well as the fact that he accepts certain appointments in institutions.

It is important to note that the subject was discussed during the question-and-answer session. Paul Bérenger asked the private radio stations not to give up. He recalled that there will be a challenge before the courts.

Nando Bodha has him talked about nominations in key positions. For him, such a nomination jeopardizes the position of the country.  Roshi Badhain talks about the way the IBA bill has been voted. It is not the IBA law that is dictatorial, it is the way they operate.
