The fall in positive cases does not guarantee zero victims. Two deaths are to be deplored on this Wednesday 06 April. The positive rate is again below 60 cases and admissions below 25.
The victims are two men admitted to the New ENT Hospital in Vacoas, aged 75 and 84 years respectively. The Ministry of Health reports that both patients were unvaccinated and had co-morbidities.
58 new cases have been reported in the last 24 hours in Mauritius and 23 in Rodrigues following 193 PCR Tests carried out. Regional hospitals have recorded 22 new admissions and 2 serious cases at the treatment centre in Vacoas. Rodrigues’ record for the day is 2. The Ministry of Health also announced that 21 patients had been cured and discharged from hospitals. The total number of patients cured since March 2021 is 34,514 out of 36,816 infected.
The progress of the day’s vaccination is 1,005,622 people for the first dose in Mauritius and 32 197 in Rodrigues, 970,867 for the second dose in Mauritius and 31 990 in Rodrigues and 602,519 for the booster dose in Mauritius and 13 064 in Rodrigues.
Furthermore, the MPF served 719 fines for non-wearing of mask since the beginning of April.
