Collaboration In Trade, Commerce, Industry And Tourism Between Mauritius And Tanzania

The High Commissioner of the United Republic of Tanzania to Mauritius, with residence in Harare in Zimbabwe, Prof. Emmanuel Mwaluko Luhembe Mbennah, paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister, Mr Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, this afternoon, at the New Treasury Building, in Port-Louis.

In a statement following the courtesy call, the High Commissioner highlighted that the meeting with the Prime Minister was fruitful and cordial, adding that the purpose of the visit was mostly to convey the gratitude of the Government of Tanzania to Mauritius for the donation of 100,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines.

“This donation of vaccines,” he underlined, “is of great importance to us because Tanzania, like many other countries, needs vaccines to fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Furthermore, Mr Mwaluko Luhembe Mbennah indicated that discussions focused on areas of cooperation and the General Framework Agreement between the two countries which was signed yesterday. “This Agreement,” he underscored, “will open a lot of opportunities for collaboration in trade, commerce, industry, tourism as well as in other various sectors between Mauritius and Tanzania.”

The High Commissioner said that they also talked about a Memorandum of Understanding between the Standard Bureaus of Tanzania and Mauritius to address issues of accreditation and mutual recognition arrangements.
