Chief Justice Set Aside The Order Freezing The Sentence Of Siddick Chady

Chief Justice Rehana Mungly-Gulbul set aside the order freezing the sentence of Siddick Chady this morning in the Supreme Court.  This decision follows an application made before the Supreme Court by Jean Michel Ah Sen, Acting Senior Assistant to the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The former minister had requested and obtained a freeze on his 15-month prison sentence pending consideration of his application to the Commission of Prerogative of Mercy.  Siddick Chady obtained a stay order. The court was due to be apprise of any response of the Commission on 07 August.

However, the case was called this Thursday. Now Siddick Chady is waiting for a communication from the Intermediate Court concerning the procedure for his possible incarceration.
