A tragedy occurred on the morning of Wednesday, January 4, at a car wash in Quatre-Bornes. Darmalingum Mareemootoo, 64 years old was using a pressure washer when he received an electric shock. It is a defective wire of this apparatus which would be at the origin of this electric discharge. The body of this sixty-year-old man who lived in one of the apartments of the NHDC, Pointe aux Sables was transported to the morgue of the Victoria Hospital in Candos to be autopsied.

This Wednesday, January 4th, nothing was expected to happen. It was the first day of work for Darmalingum Mareemootoo for this year 2023. He had been working there for a few months since opening this car wash about five months ago. It was around 8:45 a.m. this Wednesday, January 4, the victim had in hand the gun of a high-pressure cleaner to arrogate a car. It is a defective wire of this apparatus which would be the cause of the electrocution of this man. The man wanted to plug in the power supply again, because the pressure washer was turning off every time. That’s when he received a shock before being thrown.  An ambulance from the Emergency Medical Service was called to the scene. The doctor on board unfortunately had to note the death of the resident of Pointe aux Sables.

His body was then transported to the morgue of the Victoria Hospital for an autopsy. The autopsy was performed by Dr. Sudesh Kumar Gungadin, head of the forensic department of the police, who attributed his death to a shock due to electrocution.

An investigation was initiated at the level of the police station of Sodnac to shed light on the exact circumstances of this tragedy.
