Bobby Hurreeram: 1438 Projects To Be Completed Over The Next Few Years

Must Read

MSM President Joe Lesjongard and Minister Bobby Hurreeram hold their first press conference for the year 2022 at the Sun Trust headquarters in Port Louis. The impact of Covid-19 and the decrease of contamination cases, the accumulations, floods and water supply, the problems of the inhabitants of Bambous Virieux, the drains projects, the role of the leaders of L’Entente de l’Espoir and the elections in Rodrigues, among others, were the main topics discussed.

Joe Lesjongard wished that the elections in Rodrigues would be held in a democratic way in the 10th district of the island just like in Mauritius.  Recalling that he worked on the issue of autonomy of Rodrigues together with the former Prime Minister, Sir Anerood Jugnauth and the leader of the MMM, Paul Berenger, he wished that the latter would give his opinion on the participation of the PMSD, in the said election.  ”The election in Rodrigues bizin leaves for banne parties in Rodrigues, not capave interfere with Rodrigues”, he believes.

For his part, the Minister of National Infrastructure and Community Development, Bobby Hurreeram emphasized the vagaries of nature that were noted in early January.  Focusing on the 2021/2022 Budget, the MSM MP pointed out that 1,438 projects will be carried out over the next few years. He said that 130 projects of drains will require investments of Rs 11.7 billion, 90 projects for Rs 3.4 billion and 219 for Rs 1.6 billion. He also spoke about the Land Drainage Master Plan and some regions of the country that are considered as high flood areas.

The Minister of National Infrastructures stressed that a lot of progress has been made with the government of the day. The government is investing massively to solve the problems of water accumulation and flooding. 1438 drainage projects will be carried out in the next few years throughout the country. However, he made clear that there is no such thing as zero risk.

Furthermore, he made it clear that it is up to Francisco Francois to make his decision with regard to the elections in Rodrigues. However, the MSM president suggested that the decision of the PMSD to take part in the elections in the tenth district of the island is not well seen.

On the other hand, Joe Lesjongard argued that the Prime Minister, Pravind Jugnauth has rectified the message of Cardinal Piat, which was censored by the MBC.

Joe Jesjongard did not want to comment on the Molnupiravir case. Let ICAC do its investigation,” he said.
