“It takes unity within the Opposition to remove the MSM government as soon as possible through general elections. But let me make it clear that the MMM is not in favour of unity on any condition. Our position is ‘nothing is agreed until everything is agreed’. We will see more clearly on the unity of the opposition in the next few days”, says Paul Bérenger.
At the press conference, he commented on the return of the Labour Party to the Plateforme de L’Espoir which groups the MMM, the PMSD, the Reform Party, and the ‘Rassemblement Mauricien’. The return of the Reds within L’Espoir will be discussed this Monday 17th January 2022.
“As far as Rodrigues is concerned, the MMM will not be involved in Rodrigues’ electoral campaign”, said Paul Bérenger. He wanted to point out that there has been no discussion with the new party of Christian Leopold, the Rodriguan Militant Movement and that the MMM has no link with this new party. However, he said that the MMM has worked a lot with Serge Clair but that the ‘Mauves’ have been disappointed lately with his behaviour.
In addition, the MMM leader will not comment on the election petition concerning Constituency no. 19 Stanley / Rose-Hill before the ruling of the Supreme Court.
