An investigation was opened at the police station of Curepipe, concerning two cases of aggression committed on elderly people. This Thursday, September 16, four members of a family and a 45-year-old security guard were arrested. The victims involved in these attacks are 62 and 70 years old respectively.
It was on the evening of August 8, 2010, at about 7:30 pm, that this 62 year old man was beaten at his home in Mangalkhan, Floréal. This sixty-year-old man who works as a security guard, was injured. He was taken to the Victoria Hospital in Candos, after receiving treatment, he was admitted to the ward. It was not until the day he was discharged, August 11. The same day he gave a statement to this effect. In his complaint, he had denounced his two daughters, aged respectively 35 and 40 years, his grandson, a 20 years old painter and his son-in-law, a 28 years old supervisor, as his aggressors.
During the day of Thursday, September 16, these four suspects living in Camp Le Juge, Forest-Side were arrested. After being brought before the court in Curepipe, on a provisional charge of assaulting an elderly person, they were released on bail.
On the other hand, a 45 year old security guard living in Malherbes, Curepipe was fined by the Curepipe court on Thursday, September 16 for assaulting his 70 year old mother. The suspect, who is violent and alcoholic by nature, committed this crime against his mother around noon on Monday 21 June. It was in the late afternoon of Tuesday June 22 that the septuagenarian had given a statement to this effect. It is during the day of Thursday September 16 that this suspect was apprehended. He was brought before the court of Curepipe the same day where he was fined.
