Archemics Wins Grand Winner Award (Large Companies) At NPQC 20-21

Must Read

Bois Marchand, September 21, 2021: With its multi-faceted project detailing how it reorganized to overcome the Covid-19 crisis, the chemical company and member of the Harel Mallac Group not only won a Gold Award for its category (large companies) but also swept the Grand Winner Award.

The theme of the 2020-2021 edition of the annual convention was “Pursuing Productivity and Quality amidst Covid-19,” an inspiration for Archemics, whose operations had been severely affected since March 2020 by lockdowns and suspension of operations for its hospitality clients. The project presented was led by Karishma Mahadawoo and Mona Jugun and titled “Innovation driving business continuity for a safe journey in times of Covid 19.” It details the business model change adopted by Archemics to adapt to drastic changes in market demand and consumer needs.

Archemics NPQC 2021

100% local anti-Covid products and a customized sanitation program

Among other things, the company accelerated research to produce and offer new anti-Covid19 sanitation solutions to businesses and consumers, such as surface disinfectants (Duotex and Virex), a WHO-approved hydroalcoholic gel (Sanigel 70), and sanitation equipment for offices, shops and hotels.

It was also necessary to find new housing for products that were sold in large volumes, and new distribution channels: Archemics thus launched its e-commerce platform www.archemics.mu in 2020.

Finally, the last challenge was to support the hotel sector so that it would be ready to welcome visitors again in optimal sanitary conditions: Archemics therefore launched a tailor-made sanitation service – the Safe Journey concept – consisting of various disinfection and hygiene programs. The program has been a great success.

Progress in the long term

Archemics is a consistent participant in the NPQC competition: in 2018 and 2019, it had already won the Bronze Award and Silver respectively. Karishma Mahadawoo recalls, “We were very moved in 2019 by the recognition given to our Sustainable Hotel Amenities project, which was a true team effort. Our company has learned a lot from NPCC over the past three years and we are using a lot of innovation tools and techniques without even realizing it today.”
