Eric Guimbeau Placed In Eric Guimbeau After Motorcycle Accident

A motorcycle rally in the south of the country turned tragic for former MP for constituency N0 17 (Curepipe/Midlands), Eric Guimbeau, 63 on the Route Royale de l’Union Ducray. Eric Guimbeau, chief executive officer of the Saint Aubin group, fell heavily on the asphalt while riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle shortly after noon on Sunday March 3. Eric Guimbeau, who lives in Pont Carbonel, Curepipe, was evacuated to the Jawaharlall Nehru Hospital in Rose-Belle by ambulance from the Service d’Aide Médicale d’Urgence (Samu). After receiving treatment, he was placed in an intensive care unit room and placed on artificial respiration. His condition is considered critical. Éric Guimbeau was transferred to the Wellkin Clinic during the day yesterday.

A team of police officers from the Souillac police station responded to a traffic accident on Route Royale de l’Union Ducray. Arriving at the scene of the accident near the junction of the sugar estate, the officers, led by Sergeant Doobree, discovered Eric Guimbeau unconscious on the asphalt in the middle of the road. 

A Samu ambulance was dispatched to the scene to transport him to the Rose-Belle hospital after first aid had been administered. Eric Guimbeau was riding a white Harley Davidson motorcycle. He was coming from the direction of Souillac and heading towards Saint Aubin on the left-hand side of this road when he skidded off the road before falling heavily onto the asphalt. 

Safe City surveillance camera footage was viewed and at 12.10pm on Sunday March 3. Eight motorcycles were on the Route Royale de l’Union Ducray coming from Souillac and heading towards Saint Aubin. The motorcyclists were travelling at a reasonable speed in their respective lanes. 

An investigation has been launched at the Souillac police station to determine the exact circumstances of this accident.
