Ambassador Of France To Mauritius Pays Farewell Call On PM

The Ambassador of France to Mauritius, Mrs Florence Caussé-Tissier, paid a farewell call on the Prime Minister, Mr Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, this afternoon, at the New Treasury Building in Port Louis.

In a statement, she said that the meeting with the Prime Minister was an opportunity to take stock and review the contribution of the French embassy during her tenure since the past three years.

She highlighted that she worked towards making the relations between Mauritius and France geared towards modernity and innovation and intensifying further the bilateral and friendly ties that exist between the two countries.

During the meeting, she said, discussions also focused on actions that have been taken jointly by the French Embassy and the Government of Mauritius, namely the cooperation between Mauritius and Reunion Island, and the Agence Française de Développement on climate resilience in the energy sector.

She stated that France has been and will continue to be on the side of Mauritius.

On a personal note, Mrs Caussé-Tissier expressed joy for having been able to represent the French embassy in Mauritius. She stated that she is proud to have been the first woman Ambassador of France in Mauritius. To that end, she appealed to young girls and women in general to always be confident and happy in everything that they undertake in life and to continue to progress in all aspects of their lives.

It is to be noted that Mr Frédéric Bontems, a career diplomat presently in post in Paris, will shortly take up the new post of French Ambassador in Mauritius.

Mrs Caussé-Tissier previously worked at the General Secretariat of the Government from 1991 to 1995. She was then at the Central Administration in Human Resources from 1995 to 2000 and from 1999 to 2002, she was at the Central Administration of the Americas and the Caribbean.

From 2002 to 2005, Mrs Caussé-Tissier was First Secretary in Port Louis. She was at the Central Administration (Political and Security Affairs) from 2005 to 2009 and Auditor at the Diplomatic Institute from April to June 2007. She then occupied the post of Head of Human Resource from 2009 to 2012. From 2012 to 2015, she was Auditor of the mid-career training session of the Diplomatic and Consular Institute (Promotion Mo Ibrahim). She was Deputy Director then Head of the Mission for Conventions and Mutual Legal Assistance from 2012 to 2016 and from 2016 to 2020, she occupied the post of Consul General in Rabat.
