Air Mauritius: Several Employees Pushed To The Edge

Must Read

Several ex-employees of Air Mauritius who have been asked to retire prematurely since last year are wondering whether their lumpsum and pension will be paid as agreed. A letter has been circulated to this effect among the affected employees, which speaks of a double standard.  However, some of the few employees have been taken over by the national airline on a fixed-term contract. Several employees denounce this policy as discriminatory and have made this known to the Air Mauritius Ltd Pension Scheme (AMLPS).

These employees are asking for their lumpsum to be paid as soon as possible as they have been waiting for this since December 2020. They were told that this would have been done in June 2021 after the watershed meeting. But as this exercise has been postponed, the affected employees are hoping that they will not be left out in the dark.

In addition, as part of its restructuring, the airline has finalized the sale of four of its aircrafts. Two A319-100s were delivered to an airline and two A-300s in July. It is planned that they will be dismantled and used for spare parts.
