Air Mauritius: Possibility That The Date Of The Watershed Meeting Be Advanced?

Must Read

For the past few days, a rumor has been circulating among Air Mauritius employees. The Watershed Meeting, which was postponed to January 2022, would this time be advanced to September 15, 2021.

The reason would be that the administrators hope to find a solution to the national airline before the opening of all borders scheduled for October 1. It should be noted that several international airlines have indicated their intention to land on the tarmac of Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Airport. And since the Mauritian company has already sold four of its wide-body aircraft, its fleet has been considerably reduced and it is likely that it will no longer be able to meet the requirements of certain services.

However, the news that the Watershed Meeting has been brought forward has not been confirmed or denied by the directors, despite our requests to do so.

The deafening silence of the directors is variously translated in the fold. Some even believe that the directors have several options, including closing Air Mauritius and then opening another national airline in an attempt to pay off old debts. With the support of ATOL (owner of the airport and its operations) and AML (which manages the airport land).

And in this complex context, a new company Airport Holding was born on August 12.  Some wonder if this new entity will not be dedicated bringing together several facilities and modern means.

However, the various unions of Air Mauritius say they are fighting to preserve the jobs and conditions of employees.
