ABC Group Gives Rs 1.2 Million To Its Social Partners

Must Read

ABC Group, through the Sir Jean Etienne Moilin Ah-Chuen Foundation, recently donated a sum of Rs 1.2 million to NGO partners and grantees who benefit from the conglomerate’s support.

Taking into consideration the economic effect of the pandemic on many needy families, the focus was on community empowerment, which represents more than 50% of the Group’s social contribution for the past year.

David Ramsay, CSR Manager of ABC Group, explains that many beneficiaries are greatly impacted by the economic crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic: “Families in need are experiencing a lot of difficulties as a result of the pandemic and it is with this in mind that we wanted to increase our contribution in this priority area. Indeed, we found it necessary to offer them this support, via our partner NGOs, to assist them in this difficult period.

It is to be noted that the Foundation has also supported its efforts in education, another priority area, through its scholarship programme, the Sir Jean Etienne Moilin Ah-Chuen Foundation Scholarship Scheme, which enables needy young people to undertake their university and vocational studies in Mauritius. About fifteen students have benefited from this programme and will therefore be able to pursue their tertiary studies in a public institution and at the Collège Technique St Gabriel for those who have opted for the vocational stream.
