Two minor children were taken into care by the Child Development Unit (CDU) of the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family Welfare. This after their mother refused to take them into care. This case was reported to the police during the day of Friday, July 15 by a Family Welfare and Protection Officer. This office had been alerted initially by an anonymous call of the abuse of her two children who were under the care of their paternal grandmother.

In her complaint to the Abercrombie St. Croix police station, the CDU representative reported the abuse of a 10 year old girl. Her office was alerted by an anonymous phone call. According to this denunciation, the girl was mistreated by her paternal grandmother who is another capable person. The child would be physically abused and was also deprived of food.

The girl, who was interrogated on April 11, explained that she was in charge of doing the housework and preparing the meal under the supervision of her grandmother. She added that her grandmother also made her clean her urine pot. The girl’s brother, who was also questioned, confirmed his sister’s version.

The mother of these two children who lives in the Roche-Bois region was contacted by the CDU, but she refused to take her two children. She also did not come to the CDU office for a social investigation.
