The body of Kersley Patrick Palmire, 41 years old, who had gone diving in Bain des Dames, was recovered from the water early Monday evening, December 20. The macabre discovery was made by his father who had gone to meet him. The autopsy performed on his body on Tuesday morning, December 21, attributed his death to asphyxia due to drowning.
It was around 5:45 pm on Monday that the body of this resident of Residence Emmanuel Anquetil, Baie des Dames was found floating near the lagoon of Baie des Dames. It was his father who had gone to meet him who found him face down in the water. He was wearing a wetsuit, a pair of diving fins, his mask and snorkel were next to him.
The victim, who had facial injuries, was skimming. Kersley Patrick Palmire had been diving since 11 a.m. on Monday, December 20. His body was transported to the morgue of the Dr. A.G. Jeetoo Hospital, Port-Louis. The autopsy was performed this Tuesday morning, December 21, by Dr. Maxwell Monvoisin, Principal Police Medical Officer. He attributed the cause of death to asphyxiation due to drowning.
