10 Patients Admitted To Hospital ENT On Sunday, Two Deaths This Weekend

Must Read

A second death from Covid-19 was recorded this weekend.  On Sunday, an unvaccinated 64-year-old patient who was admitted to ENT Hospital died. According to the Ministry of Health, the Grand Bay resident had comorbidities. Yesterday, another patient died at the ENT hospital in Vacoas, a death that was also attributed to Covid-19.

As for the colleges affected by Covid-19, one can say that the days are similar. The Visitation RCA school in Vacoas will be closed tomorrow, Monday 16 August and Tuesday 17 August, as two students have tested positive for COVID-19. A team from the Ministry of Health will carry out a disinfection exercise at the school tomorrow. Classes will resume on Wednesday 18 August.

The situation is somewhat similar at St Joseph’s College in Curepipe. In principle, due to the feast of the Assumption, the management of the College of St Joseph has assigned a “Floating holiday” to its students on Monday 16 August. However, on Saturday 14 August, a Grade 11 student tested positive for Covid-19. However, he has not been to school for the past 7 days. The school will therefore be closed on Monday 16 August. The management reassured parents in a statement on Saturday.

The number of positive cases of Covid detected is still above 100. According to the Ministry of Health’s press release, yesterday, Sunday, 138 asymptomatic patients were noted and 10 patients were admitted to ENT hospital for treatment, the authorities said.
