Young Resident Of Bethlehem Residence, Rose-Belle Arrested For Drug Trafficking

Mohammed Jabil Jolicoeur, 19 years old, who was suspected of drug trafficking, was arrested at his home in Bethlehem Residence, Rose-Belle during the day on Friday, December 2. This after police officers of the Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (ADSU) of the South Division found in his possession 50 doses of heroin, one parcel of heroin, 43 doses of synthetic drugs, 3 parcels of synthetic drugs and the sum of Rs 9,525 suspected to come from the sale of drugs. The value of the seized drugs is estimated at Rs 150 000.

It is on the basis of certain information to the effect that the young man is involved in drug trafficking that he was placed under surveillance. This exercise, which lasted for several hours, allowed to apprehend him during a raid at his home. The information obtained about this young man turned out to be true.

In addition, on the same day, around 2:30 pm, a search in a bush in Petrin resulted in the uprooting of 127 cannabis plants. These plants which measure between 20 and 75 centimeters were found by elements of the Special Supporting Unit (SSU) of the Special Response Group (SRG). This raid was made following information obtained by the Intelligence Cell of the SSU. A surveillance exercise was mounted until 4 pm but no one showed up at this location. Then, these plants, which have a market value of Rs 508 000, were uprooted and taken to the police station of Vacoas for the investigation.
