Young Helper Arrested In Possession Of Rs 1.5 Million Worth Of Drugs

A patrol of police officers from the Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (ADSU) of the Eastern Division, carried out at Choisy Road, Poste de Flacq in the evening of Monday, July 4, led to the arrest of Louis Jimmy Patrice Edmond, a 22-year-old helper. This after this resident of Cité EDC, Olivia was found in possession of 101.75 grams of heroin and 0.34 grams of cannabis. This suspect was presented before the court of Flacq this Tuesday, July 5, where he responds to a provisional charge of drug trafficking, even possession of heroin and cannabis with intent to sell. The market value of the seized drugs is estimated at Rs 1 526 590.  Patrice Edmond was kept in police custody.

It was around 8:55 pm on Monday evening, July 4, that Patrice Edmond, who looked suspicious, was arrested at Choisy Road, Poste de Flacq. The young man was searched and found in his possession a piece of cling film with a plastic wrapping containing a quantity of heroin and in a piece of cellophane paper a quantity of cannabis.

The suspect was taken to the Flacq ADSU office and then taken to his home for a search. However, no drugs were found at his home. Patrice Edmond spent the first night in a cell at the Bel Air Rivière Sèche police station.

An investigation was opened to find out the source of the drugs.
