Two Teenagers In Critical Condition After Motorcycle Accident

Two teenagers, aged 14 and 17 respectively, are in critical condition.  They were seriously injured in an accident at the corner of Pamplemousses and Militaire Plaine-Verte roads on Thursday afternoon, October 13, when their motorcycle collided with a car. They were both admitted to the intensive care unit of the Dr. A.G. Jeetoo Hospital, Port-Louis.

It was around 9:40 pm this Thursday, October 13, that an accident occurred at the corner of Pamplemousses and Military roads, Plaine-Verte. A Toyota van, which was driving on the Pamplemousses road and was heading towards Sainte-Croix, collided with a Suzuki motorcycle. The motorcycle was driven by a 17 year old resident of the NHDC apartments, Cité La Cure, with a 14 year old resident of Caro Lalo, Vallée des Prêtres as a passenger. The motorcycle was coming in the opposite direction.

Both youths were seriously injured. The motorcyclist was transported to the hospital ӑ aboard an ambulance from the Emergency Medical Service. The other teenager, whose parents were alerted, arrived at the scene of the accident to take him to the City Clinic in Plaine-Verte. After receiving first aid, he was transferred to Dr. Jeetoo Hospital and was placed in the intensive care unit. The motorcyclist is on artificial respiration.

The condition of both youths is considered critical. The 43 year old driver of the van, a resident of Holyrood N0 1, Vacoas was given a breathalyzer test, which was negative. An investigation was initiated at the level of the police station of Plaine-Verte to establish the exact circumstances of this accident.
