On Thursday evening, November 11, a fire broke out at around 7 pm in a building housing the Craft Market in Caudan. This fire had captivated the attention of Mauritians because three people were trapped. They are two accountants of the company Nedcor Trade Service Ltd trapped on the fifth floor of this building and a security guard of the company Caudan Security who was posted in the control room on the roof.
And it is after several and thanks to the telescopic ladder truck that firemen with the help of a telescopic ladder truck, were able to save these men. The four people were transported to the Jeetoo hospital where they are receiving the necessary care. The two accountants are, Mohammad Siddiq Nadalee, 54 years old from Vacoas, Mohammad Abdool Alleem Farzan, 58 years old from Coromandel and the security guard Jean Pascal Précieux, 25 years old resident of Montagne-Ory.
These people were trapped after a fire occurred at the Craft Market building. Firemen from Port-Louis and other regions were called to the scene and officers of the Mauritius Police Task Force also lent a hand.
Firemen from the region as well as from other neighbouring regions were dispatched to the scene. Even elements of the Mauritius Police Task Force had to be sent to the scene to assist the firemen.
Caudan Waterfront officials and police have confirmed with tenants of the building that no employees were present at the time of the fire.
The fire was contained late in the night. It can be said that the material damage affecting several stores, are consequent. An investigation has been initiated at the level of the Port police to determine the exact circumstances of this incident. This Friday morning, November 12th, police technicians will go to the site to collect clues and take samples that could help advance this investigation. The amount of the damage is not yet known.
