At a press conference on Tuesday, Anil Kumar Dip strongly condemned the incidents which occurred at La Citadelle on Saturday night. He said that in a multiracial country, these incidents cannot and must not be tolerated. The Commissioner of Police recalled that a group of men burst in on a concert organised by the Attitude hotel group.
So far, 13 people have been arrested in this case, he said before adding that further arrests are planned, especially as identifications are still being made. He stated that police are receiving videos from citizens.
The Police Commissioner asserts that security and stability must be for everyone and that everyone’s rights must be respected.
Anil Kumar Dip maintains that there is speculation about police training. However, he assures us that it is continuous and that in this case, the police will take the necessary actions. He appealed to the population not to give in to panic and to contribute in order to preserve harmony. The Police Commissioner warned all those who would defy the law.
