Must Read

A shopkeeper operating a boutique at Rue La Reine, Port-Louis was the subject of a police investigation as of Tuesday, December 7. This one concerns the payment of a sum of Rs 1,107,450 that she made with four cheques. However, they were returned to its beneficiary by a bank in St-Pierre with the mention “insufficient funds”.

It is at the police station of Trou-Fanfaron that the director of a company engaged in the distribution of Take Away containers went on Tuesday afternoon to report this case of issuing NSF cheques. This 39 year old man and resident of Verdun made the history of his commercial transactions with the owner of this store in the presence of his lawman, Ramdhean.

He said that from June 6, 2017 till May 31, 2018, his company had made a delivery of Take Away containers worth Rs 1,107,450. On May 31, 2019, the store owned by his wife had sent him four cheques for the amount due. A week after depositing these cheques at the MauBank in St. Pierre, he was to receive four images of this document with the mention “insufficient funds”.

From that date on, he tried in vain to contact the owner of the store.
