Sanitary Protocol For Vaccinated Travelers

In line with the reopening of borders as from 15 July, the ministry of Tourism has worked out a sanitary protocol for vaccinated travelers.

The already approved protocol by the authorities’ states that passengers coming to Mauritius must be vaccinated with two doses of an anti-COVID vaccine recognized by the Mauritian authorities, and the second dose must have been evaluated at least 2 weeks before arrival. For the J&J vaccine, the single injection must be made before 28 days. Passengers under the age of 18 are exempted from vaccination for the time being. Passengers must have taken out medical insurance covering the cost of medical care against COVID in Mauritius and the additional hotel costs incurred if they must remain in quarantine due to the positivity of a close one.

Passengers wishing to repatriate in the event of COVID must take out additional insurance. Passengers must have booked their entire stay in an authorized hotel for a mandatory period, ranging from one night to 14 nights.

Beyond 14 days, clients are free to stay in Mauritius in a location of their choice.

At the airport of departure and during the trip, the passenger must keep a surgical mask or N95 / FFP2 at all times on the face. All transfer operators’ staff in contact with passengers must be vaccinated, as well as their immediate family who live in the same home. In the restaurant, there will be no buffet. Access to golf courses will be authorized. Access to the Kids / Teens Club is authorized. At the bar or during musical entertainment, the seated customers can take off their masks.

There will be a mandatory PCR tests on D7 and D14 of their stay. After 14 days, if the tests are negative and all the other people in the hotel are negative, including the staff, they can leave the hotel freely and be in charge of their activities in Mauritius. If one or more clients test positive in the resort, those who have remained negative must, at the end of their fortnight, after their negative D14 PCR test, self-isolate for 7 days in the place of their choice in Mauritius. If the passengers leave before the 14 days’ period, they will be brought to the airport through a sanitary corridor.
