Must Read

Gatherings of up to 50 people will now be permitted from 1 July 2021. This was announced by Prime Minister, Pravind Jugnauth on Thursday 24 June. A series of activities will resume such as the reopening of food court, restaurants, fast food outlets, gyms, places of worship, individual sports, beaches (but not picnics) and schools, of course, in compliance with strict sanitary measures.

In his speech, the Prime Minister thanked India for its support and thanked both China and India for donating vaccines.

He also referred to the government’s method of containing this second wave with the introduction of Red Zones instead of a complete lockdown like last year.

Pravind Jugnauth also stressed that 40% of the population is already vaccinated and that the figure of 500,000 vaccinated people have been reached.  According to him, the country is moving towards its goal of having 60% of its population vaccinated with the two doses.

This, according to him, will allow the country to move on to the next stage in all serenity. Indeed, from 15 July Mauritius will be able to welcome tourists under certain strict conditions before the full opening on 1 October. He also mentioned a necessary decision to pass a law to encourage vaccination in certain sectors. The country, he said, will achieve great things.

Take a look at the terms of reopening:
