Salesman Dies From Electrocution At Sodnac

A fifty-year-old man received an electric shock this Friday afternoon, February 4, while using a pressure washer at his employer’s home in the Sodnac area of Four Corners. The victim, Mohamed Iqbal Maudarbocus, 58, of St. Croix, also worked as a salesman. He did not survive the electric shock. The autopsy performed in the early evening of the same day attributed the cause of his death to a shock due to electrocution.

It was around 12:55 on Friday, February 4 that this tragic accident occurred. Iqbal Maudarbocus was using a pressure washer, which was connected to an extension cord when he got an electric shock. The personnel of an ambulance of the Emergency Medical Service (SAMU) were immediately called to the scene, but the doctor on board could only note the death of the 50-year-old.

Police officers from the Quatre-Bornes police station, who arrived on the scene shortly after, found the victim lying on his back in the yard. A pressure washer and an extension cord were seized as evidence. These were sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory in Reduit for examination.

The corpse was taken to the morgue of the Victiria Hospital, Candos for an autopsy. The autopsy performed by Dr. Sudesh Kumar Gubgadin, Chief Police Medical Officer at around 6 pm on Friday, February 4, attributed the death of Iqbal Maubarbocus to shock due to electrocution.

Iqbal Maudarbocus, who used to work as a cab driver, suffered from heart problems. His funeral took place on the evening of Friday, February 4.

A police investigation has been opened to shed light on the exact circumstances of this tragedy.
