A complaint of assault was made against an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) teacher at Sir Anerood Jugnauth Government School on the evening of Tuesday 4 April. A 10-year-old Grade 5 student reported an assault on him during this class on Tuesday, April 4. He was in pain and went to the North Hospital for treatment.
In his statement made in the presence of his mother at the Rivière du Rempart police station, the boy explained that he was in the ICT class at 10am on Tuesday 4 April. The teacher, he said, was upset that he had made mistakes. He erased his homework on his computer and asked him to start over.
According to the student, the teacher was still not satisfied with his homework and hit him on the keyboard and slapped him on the neck. This teacher also kicked his chair. He got up and the chair fell over.
