Reported missing since October last year, a 12-year-old schoolgirl returned to her family home on Friday, January 19. During her escape, she stayed with a 23-year-old man living in Batterie Cassée, Sainte-Croix. She says this man had sexual intercourse with her. The man then confined her, deprived her of food and even assaulted her. The suspect is actively sought on a charge of sexual abuse of a minor.
A policewoman assigned to the Family Protection Brigade at Abercrombie police station, St. Croix, recorded her statement in the presence of her mother. She recounted in great detail how she had met the man on Facebook in September 2023. In October of the same year, she went to the man’s home in Batterie Cassée, Sainte-Croix. They had sexual relations on several occasions. She explains that the man had confined her and deprived her of food. She had even been beaten by the man.
The girl was admitted to the northern hospital, where the protocol for victims of sexual abuse was put in place. She asked to be examined by a police doctor.
