Rs 5 Million Worth Of Consumer Products Stolen From Agiliss

Must Read

A most audacious theft has been committed to the detriment of the Agiliss company in the industrial area of Phoenix. A recent inventory revealed that between January 4 and December 3 of this year, various consumer items were stolen from the company. The Criminal Investigation Division (CID) of Phoenix has been assigned to this case. For the time being, three employees of this distribution company, including two Bangladeshis, have been arrested.

The general manager of the company, a 47 year old man from Goodlands, reported the case to the Phoenix police station early Friday evening, December 23. In his complaint he listed fifty-one items that have been taken since the beginning of this year. These items include bags of basmati rice, packets of salt, tins, bags of milk, bags of dry grains and bags of sagoo among others.

On the same day, the Phoenix CID arrested the manager of a self-service store in Montagne-Blanche. He told investigators that he was not involved in any theft from the company. A raid was then conducted in his business. This exercise allowed the police to seize thirty-nine bags of lentils. After verifications, these articles were returned to him.

The 45 year old man was subsequently allowed to return home on the orders of the Assistant Superintendent of Police, Assam Earally. A thorough investigation by the CID allowed these police officers to determine that this theft was an “inside job”. Three employees of this company, including two Bangladeshi nationals, were arrested on Tuesday, December 27. These three men confessed to having committed thefts to the detriment of their employer. They were brought before the court of Curepipe on Tuesday 28 December.
