A team from the Metrpolitan Division’s Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit uprooted 1,042 cannabis plants in a forest at La Boue Blanc in Mare aux Vacoas. The discovery was made on Monday August 28, following information obtained. The market value of these plants is Rs 3,126,000.
It was around noon on Monday August 28 that the Adsu men, led by Sergeant Mohun, arrived in the forest. After a search, they discovered several rattan baskets in which several cannabis plants measuring between fifteen and fifteen kilograms were cultivated.
Surveillance was set up at the site, but the grower was not found. An investigation is underway.
