Roilya Ranaivosoa: The Youth No Longer Wants To Sit Back And Watch

Must Read

Roilya Ranaivosoa-Coret is a weightlifter who needs no introduction. Accustomed to high-level competition, the 30-year-old woman is taking on a new challenge by throwing herself into the political arena. As a candidate of 100% Citoyens for the next municipal elections, she says she is ready to face anything, except a proposal to be the next mayor of Curepipe.

She has never had her tongue in her pocket. With her determination, Roilya intends to let the people of Curepipe benefit from this trait.

For her, joining the 100% Citoyens party is a logical step: “The youth no longer wants to sit back and watch. There are urgent matters that need to be resolved and this cannot be done by making criticisms on social networks. We must act and act quickly. To make my contribution, I chose to join 100% Citoyens. It is a party whose values correspond most to my definition of politics.

The athlete will make sport and the environment her priorities if she is elected.

In the event of his election, the weightlifter already knows his priorities: “The construction of sports complexes has never produced great athletes. For an athlete to emerge, you have to trigger the passion for a sport in him. You also have to understand their needs and support them. This is the work that I am committed to doing for the people of Curepipe. The defence of the environment will also be my battle horse.

However, Roilya does not have her eye on the top job: “You have to have a solid notion of management to aspire to this position. For the moment, I don’t have the shoulders to hold this responsibility. I want to contribute to the victory of my party. At the moment, I don’t want to be the next mayor of Curepipe.

Asked if her political involvement might not hinder the facilities provided by the state, Roilya replies: “It is the responsibility of the government to ensure that its athletes have the necessary support to represent the country in the best conditions. But in the event that I am deliberately denied certain facilities because of my political involvement, it would mean that we have a government that only defends its interests and not those of the people.
