Roche-Bois Plumber Arrested With Rs 1.2 Million And Drugs Worth Rs 700,000

Sa bann fey papye la ena la drog sa missie, mo ti pe koupe, mo ti pe vende” is what Dylan Nehemie Guingan, a 22 year old plumber, said when he was arrested on Wednesday afternoon, January 18.  This is following a police raid at his house in Batterie-Cassée, Roche-Bois where he was found in possession of several pieces of paper soaked in synthetic drugs. The market value is Rs 700 000.

It is based on certain information obtained by the men of Inspector Seebnauth of the Divisional Crime Intelligence Unit (DCIU) of the Eastern Division and after hours of surveillance that this operation has been mounted. This operation has also been carried out with the help of the men of the DCIU of the Northern Division and those of the Metropolitan of the Northern Division. These policemen were assisted by the elements of the Mauritian Police Intervention Group and those of the Special Response Group of the Special Supporting Unit.

With a search warrant signed by a magistrate of the Port-Louis Court, the assault has given to the home of Dylan Guingan at 3:20 pm on Wednesday, January 18. In the suspect’s bedroom, the police have found, in a plastic drawer, a clear plastic sheet in which there were 9 completely soaked printed paper sheets and a similar sheet partially cut at one end. All were suspected of containing a liquid that could be synthetic drugs.

When questioned about these exhibits, the suspect answered that, “sa bann fey papye la ena la drog sa missie, mo ti pe koupe, mo ti pe vende“. In another transparent plastic bag in a drawer, the police officers found 3 transparent vials containing 101, 104 and 109 paper strips respectively. Dylan Guingan was confronted with these tapes to which he had to say, “sa la drog la mo ti pe tras enn lavi avek sa. Mo ti pe vann sa pou san roupi“.

This search in his house allowed these police officers to get their hands on 3 transparent bags that contained a large amount of money in bank notes and coins. Dylan Guingan admitted that “sa larzan la, ce larzan ki mo finn gagne kan mo ine vann sa la drog la“.

The suspect and exhibits were taken to the Abercrombie’s Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (ADSU), St. Croix for investigation. A sum of Rs 1,289,100 in different denominations and coins suspected to be from this drug trafficking were also seized. The suspect was brought before the Port-Louis Court on Thursday morning, January 19, and kept in a police cell. He is facing a provisional charge of drug trafficking.
