An honor for the country! Our compatriot Teenah Jutton has been named one of the 100 most influential people in the 2021 edition of Most Influential People of African Descent (MIPAD).

Awarded in the category of influential political figures under 40, MP and PPS Teenah Jutton said she was “impressed” by the magnitude of the 100 people in the various categories recognized by MIPAD for their achievements and contributions to their countries and the African continent.

These 100 nominations, she said, are part of the international year of the creative economy for sustainable development for the United Nations 2030 goals.

“It is a huge pride as a Mauritian to be among the Top 100 most influential people under the age of 40 worldwide in the 2021 edition recognized by the Most Influential People of African Descent,” says Teenah Jutton.

“I discovered, to my great surprise, and especially with pride, that I have been recognized for my journey, my efforts and my entrepreneurial spirit alongside big names and personalities from all categories, including business, politics, charity and humanitarian work,” she says.

In the same vein, the PPS of constituencies Nos. 11 and 12 states that she is really motivated to serve her country. Moreover, just for this month of October, she participated in several events: ceremony of handing over the keys of the houses of the NHDC in St Hilaire; ceremony of handing over title deeds to the employees of the Rose-Belle Sugar State, among others. “Together with the High Commission of India, NGO Sparkle, Ministry of Health, Healing Centre, Meda Ayur Yog Peetha and several other organizations, we organized an awareness campaign on mental health just recently. The goal is to break the stigma of this disease,” she said.

Note that the classification of ‘Most Influential People of African Descent’ was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly resolution 68/237 and is to be observed from 2015 to 2024.
