Must Read

Parliamentary Private Secretary (PPS) Rajanah Dhaliah has also challenged the ‘Private Prosecution’ against him by Hindu priest Vivek Pursun in the Curepipe Magistrate’s Court on 15 May 2023. He filed his motion in the Supreme Court on 12 May 2023. The said motion will be called before the Chief Justice on 22 May 2023. The PPS has retained the services of Mr Ravi Rutnah and Mr Didier Pursun (solicitor). PPS Rajanah Dhaliah is seeking an order quashing the private prosecution filed against him and also his summons to the Curepipe Magistrates’ Court. It is also demanding that the proceedings be frozen. This is until a decision is taken by the Supreme Court. The private prosecution against the PPS will be called at the Curepipe court on 17 May 2023. The hindu priest accuses him of having, on 12 September 2020, acted in concert to allocate state land to Dayot and Mangin to Eco Deer Park Association. This was for an alleged bribe of Rs 3.5 million.

Yesterday, the Chief Justice ordered that the Private Prosecution of Vivek Pursun brought before the Curepipe court on Monday, May 14, be “put on hold”, or “stayed”. The objection of Maneesh Gobin will be taken on the merits on May 29.
