PAD CO Executive Director Cannot Leave The Country

Must Read

A travel ban order has been issued against the executive director of PAD Co. Ltd. Alain Hao Thyn Chuan Ha Shun, the CEO of PAD CO, arrested in connection with the St. Louis case, had requested permission to travel to Reunion. The court rejected his request. The 53-year-old man, through his lawyer, Sailesh Seebaruth, was seeking the lifting of the travel ban order against him. His reason for doing so is to accompany his father for treatment in Reunion Island, from 4 October to 9 October 2021. The latter has been diagnosed with cancer since the beginning of 2019.

Phillipe Alain Hao Thyn Chuan Ha Shun is facing a provisional charge of money laundering in the Port Louis court. Given the seriousness of the offence, the Independent Commission against Corruption (ICAC), represented by Mr Trishul Naga, objected to Phillipe Alain Hao Thyn Chuan Ha Shun’s application, arguing that there is a high risk that he will abscond or interfere with witnesses and tamper with evidence abroad.

Magistrate Bibi Azna Bholah ruled in favour of the ICAC and rejected Phillipe Alain Hao Thyn Chuan Ha Shun’s application. She took into consideration the explanations of ICAC’s Chief Investigating Officer. The latter elaborated on the points of objection and pointed out the complexity and seriousness of the case.
