On Rajanah Dhaliah’s Summons To ICAC: “We Will Find A Way To Complete The Investigation” Says Navin Beekarry

Must Read

The Director General of the Independent Commission against Corruption (ICAC) was the guest speaker at the annual human resources conference organised by the Association of Human Resource Professionals of Mauritius on Friday. Navin Beekarry was questioned by members of the press about the means ICAC will find to summon PPS Rajanah Dhaliah as part of the investigation into allegations of bribery concerning the granting of a lease in the Grand Bassin region.

At a press conference yesterday, lawyer Ravi Rutna, who is representing PPS Rajanah Dhaliah, said that he had asked for his client’s summons to be postponed because he was unwell.   Rajanah Dhaliah had been summoned to appear before the Anti-Corruption Commission on August 3 in this context. The ICAC responded to Ravi Rutnah in a press release, claiming that Mr Rutnah had engaged in delaying tactics since his client was summoned in July.

Navin Beekarry asserts that despite all its attempts, the Anti-Corruption Commission will find a way to complete the investigation.

The CEO was also asked about the creation of the Financial Crime Commission and who would head it. Navin Beekarry says the he will be a candidate to lead the new organisation like many others.
