7-Year-Old Russian Tourist Put On Artificial Respiration

A 20-year-old motorcyclist collided violently with a 7-year-old boy on Route Côtière de Pereybère on the afternoon of Thursday February 15. The severely injured child, a Russian national, was rushed to the northern hospital in an ambulance belonging to the Service d’Aide Médicale d’Urgence (Samu). After receiving first aid in the emergency department, he underwent surgery. He was then admitted to an intensive care unit and placed on artificial respiration. His prognosis is vital. According to a witness, the child suddenly ran across the road in front of the motorcycle.

It was 3.35pm on Thursday afternoon, February 15, when a team of police officers from the Grand Baie police station attended an accident on the Pereybère coastal road near Beach Cove. A child had been hit by a motorcycle. The motorcycle was driven by a 20-year-old resident of Petit Raffray.

The child was seriously injured. A Samu ambulance was called to the scene to transport him to the northern hospital. A witness to the accident, a resident of Petit Raffray, came forward to explain that the child ran across the road and was hit by the Honda motorcycle.

The child was on vacation in Mauritius with his parents. They were staying in a villa in Grand Baie. The motorcyclist was taken to the Grand Baie police station, where he was given a breathalyzer test. The test was negative. An investigation has been launched to determine the exact circumstances of this accident.
