Must Read

An 84-year-old man had to be evacuated to the Dr. A.G. Jeetoo Hospital, Port-Louis, in an ambulance belonging to the Service d’Aide Medicale d’Urgence (Samu), after being slashed in the face by his 42-year-old son. The latter was demanding money from him. When his son refused, he attacked him in the face, hands and heel on the morning of Thursday July 13 in Cité La Cure. Before fleeing, he took the sum of Rs 5,000 from his father’s pocket.

The victim was admitted to Dr Jeetoo Hospital after receiving treatment in the emergency department. It was his 61-year-old wife who reported a case of violent robbery against their son at Abercrombie police station, Sainte Croix at around 9.30 a.m. on Thursday July 13. In her complaint, the sixty-something said that at around 8.15 a.m. on the same day, she ran towards her husband, who was in the kitchen, when she heard him shout her name out loud.

At that very moment, she saw her son threatening her husband with a box cutter in his right hand. He was demanding money. Faced with her husband’s refusal, her son did not hesitate to inflict blows with the cutter on his face, hands and heel. He was then forced to take Rs 5,000 in Rs 1,000 denominations from the left pocket of her husband’s jeans.

He fled through a back door. Her husband was bleeding profusely. She then requested a Samu ambulance to take him to hospital. The suspect is being actively sought by the police.
