No Bail For John Rider

Hassenjee Karamuth, aka John Rider, remains in custody. He was provisionally charged with money laundering at the Rose Hill Magistrates’ Court on Friday. He will have to return to court on March 2 for his bail motion. John Rider was arrested by the Icac on Thursday in connection with the Franklin case. His arrest intervened after a 25-year-old gardener said Rider acts as a proxy for Franklin. The gardener is the official owner of a BMW 640i. However, his monthly salary of Rs 15,000 could not allow him to finance the purchase of this car, which was valued at 1.4 million. Subsequently, the BMW was involved in an accident and declared a total loss. The insurer of the vehicle would then have paid the sum of Rs 1.4 million to the owner. Hassenjee Karamuth is represented by his lawyer, Samad Goolamally. Yesterday, the Anti-Corruption Commission summoned Hassenjee Karamuth, alias John Rider because he is suspected to be another proxy of Jean Hubert Celerine, Also the Ford Mustang which has been seized was used by Nico le Mimi during the latter visit to Mauritiius.
