Miss Environment Mauritius is a new beauty contest. 11 candidates will compete for the final on January 29, 2022. The international final will be held in Mauritius in 2023, and will see the participation of at least 40 countries.
They have at heart the safeguard of the environment of their country. 11 young Mauritian women aged between 18 and 28 are currently participating in the first edition of the Miss Environment Mauritius contest.
Affiliated with Miss Environment International, whose headquarters are in Turkey, this contest is intended to be an annual event: “This contest, which is also in its first edition in Mauritius as well as internationally, will be held every year to raise public awareness on environmental protection. For this contest, we auditioned a hundred girls and finally selected only 11”, explains Meera Khundoo, member of the organizing committee.
The winner will then fly to India to defend the country’s colors: “In Mauritius the final will take place on January 29 next year. The winner will receive gifts worth Rs 200 000. In addition to that, she will validate her ticket to travel to India to represent the country at the international final to be held in India in March or April 2022,” said Jean Mée Sandian – CEO in Miss Environment International Indian Ocean & African Continent.
