Metro Obliges: Major Works At Palmerstone Crossing

Must Read

From this Thursday 2nd September, the traffic will be dense in Phoenix for a whole month and in Vacoas for three months.

Slow traffic for a month

This will slow down all those travelling to central Phoenix, Saint Paul, Vacoas, Floreal and all others who were taking this shorter route than the one through the roundabout at Phoenix Beverages.

According to a communiqué by the Ministry of Transport & Light Rail, one lane of the busy Nalletamby Road, the right-hand lane, will be closed for renovation work by Transinvest and will reopen on Friday 1st October, more precisely from the Jumbo roundabout to the Palmerstone junction. The works will cover a distance of 150 metres and the track next to it will be used instead. The Department of Transport & Light Rail will provide signage and police officers will be there to guide and control traffic.

Three months, Metro obliges

For Vacoas, as from Thursday 2nd September, the situation is likely to be slower and even longer. For the next three months, the Metro Express project will run along Rajaretnum Mudaliar Road and between the junctions of Grannum Branch Road and Wilson Road. Traffic will be diverted to Floreal Road to exit at Saint Paul Road. This will be a hardship for residents of the Floréal, Curepipe and surrounding areas as well as those who usually opt for this travel option

Motorists are called to be vigilant on these roads and to respect the speed limit. The Ministry concerned is counting on the cooperation of the public and apologises for any inconvenience caused to the users of these roads and inhabitants of these regions.
